Boneco nazista

HONG KONG (AP) - Soft drink giant Coca-Cola pulled a promotional robot figurine adorned with what looks like Nazi swastikas following criticism from a local Jewish leader.
The company withdrew "Robowaru'' from a promotional set of plastic figurines derived from the Japanese television series "Robocon'' following a complaint by Rabbi Yakkov Kermaier of Hong Kong, Coca-Cola spokesman Kelly Brooks said Wednesday in Atlanta.
The original Robowaru has two Buddhist symbols printed on its chest _ but the Coca-Cola promotion inverts the ancient symbols, making them very similar to Nazi swastikas.
"We regret any misunderstanding this may have caused,'' Brooks said in a telephone interview from Atlanta.
The ancient Buddhist symbol common in Asia is nearly a reverse image of the swastika adopted by the Nazis. The four arms on the Buddhist symbol point counterclockwise, while the arms on the Nazi swastika point clockwise.
The arms on the swastika on Coca-Cola's robot figurine point clockwise.
